Dr. Mutlu Dogruel is Vice President of AI Solutions at Cresset, where he leads the company’s strategy to apply artificial intelligence across its drug discovery products and services. His work centers on developing AI-driven enhancements to CADD software—such as assistants that improve ease of use, coding chatbots that accelerate development, and predictive machine learning models for molecular design—while ensuring these technologies are deployed systematically and in line with responsible AI practices. Mutlu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Middle East Technical University, a Master’s degree in Bioengineering from Sabancı University, and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Cambridge. His doctoral research applied machine learning and statistical methods to computational biology, with a focus on protein motif discovery. He brings extensive experience in applying AI to practical challenges in life sciences. Prior to joining Cresset, Mutlu spent nearly eight years at Microsoft UK as the lead Pharma AI Architect, where he designed large-scale, cloud-based AI solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He has also worked as a genomics consultant and as an R&D engineer in the speech recognition domain at Hewlett Packard. At Cresset, Mutlu’s mission is to help customers and partners harness the potential of AI while ensuring its ethical, transparent, and scientifically rigorous application in drug discovery.
